Gwalia Townsite

Sunrise over the deserted Gwalia townsite.



A tiny pink house made of corrugated iron. Quaint – a bit like a child’s cubby house, but apparently a couple lived here for years. So the mixture of bareness and decoration is touching, especially given how difficult survival would have been. It gets freezing cold here during the nights and blistering hot during the days.








Eerily, many of the buildings are full of everyday objects – it looks as though everything is just as it was; only the people have gone.
