Steph - You have made me completely reassess the way I perceive these angels. I have to confess that my protestant upbringing has heavily influenced my attitudes; they were considered too ostentatious. I also didn’t realize that each one had its own expression & personality. I’ve looked at them so many times & find that each one brings a different emotional response; a smile, curiosity as I wonder what ‘she’ is thinking & often sadness. I’m also fascinated by their appearance, the third last angel looks like she’s bleeding, for others it’s tears or the dirty smudges a little girl often has on her face when she’s been playing outside.
You’ve also motivated me to post a comment – not easy!!! Congrats. Jane, what a wonderful way to start a new year.
Jane - Thanks Steph – wow! I am chuffed that you did post a comment – it means a lot to me! I’m also glad to hear what you see in the statues – I have a similar response to them
